Slowly Reaching Optimal Germination Temperatures

If your lawn was seeded within the last few weeks you should start to be more consistent now with keeping your seedbeds moist. We are seeing grass seed slowly start to germinate but the cool nights are making it slow. We are right around 50 degrees in the top 2″ of soil during the day. Optimal germination temperature is 55-60 degrees for grass seed. Also remember to put your per-emergent crabgrass control down on your (established) lawns within the next week. You can see the foretasted soil temperatures here:  Soil Temperature Map
